IAASA regrets to announce the death of its Chairperson, Professor Brendan Walsh

It is with deep regret that IAASA has learnt of the sudden passing of its Chairperson, Professor Brendan Walsh.  Brendan served as Chair of IAASA during a period of great change for the organisation, providing excellent leadership and making a very significant contribution to the work of the Authority. He will be sadly missed by his Board colleagues and the Authority’s staff.

Brendan was Professor Emeritus in the School of Economics at University College Dublin and author of several studies of the Irish economy. He served as a consultant on numerous public bodies in Ireland and worked for the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the World Bank and the Harvard Institute of International Development. As well as Chair of IAASA, he  was a member of the European Statistical Advisory Committee (Eurostat).
